What are they ? We invite you to continue reading.

Financial aid that can be combined with the scholarship

THE Crous (Regional Center for University and School Work) awards a scholarship based on social criteria. The amount of the Crous purse is defined according to the situation of the students. However, other financial aid is offered.

The merit scholarship

Also known as merit aid, the merit scholarship is included in the list of financial aid that can be combined with the scholarship. It is granted to students enrolled in a higher education establishment over a period of three years. However, this specific assistance is only aimed at students who have obtained “very good” marks in the baccalaureate. No action is required to request it, because it is awarded by the academy automatically to deserving students, but generally from modest families. The amount is around 900 euros for students who obtained their baccalaureate after 2015, paid in nine monthly payments. It is 1,800 euros for high school graduates who obtained their diploma before 2015. It is worth noting that this financial aid can be eliminated in the event of repeating a year, with a possible scholarship review Crous.

Specific one-off assistance

This financial assistance is aimed at students in a serious situation during the academic year. To request it, simply contact the social service of the Regional Center for University and School Works to which it depends. However, it is only granted under conditions. The maximum amount is around 2,597 euros, paid in one go. In the event that the student concerned is entitled to several one-off aids, the total amount is capped at 5,194 euros.

Talent scholarships

This aid is paid to students in a preparatory class or unemployed who are preparing for civil service competitions (category A or B). Students waiting for exam results can also subscribe if their resources do not exceed a defined ceiling. The annual amount is 2,000 euros, paid in two installments, generally between October and November of the academic year. It is possible to combine a student job and a Talents grant.

Housing assistance

This assistance is aimed at French and foreign students who are not related to the owner of the rented apartment or studio. The amount also depends on their resources (grant, salary, etc.), knowing that a ceiling is defined beforehand. Three types of housing assistance are offered, namely:

  • L’PLA (personalized housing assistance) granted to couples or single students renting approved accommodation (university residence, hostel, etc.);
  • The ALS (social housing allowance) intended under the same conditions as the APL;
  • The ALF (family housing allowance) which is aimed at any student in a couple or single with a dependent. This aid is granted if he rents non-approved accommodation, unlike the APL.

To qualify for this financial aid, the studio or apartment must represent the student’s main residence.

Regional aid

This is financial aid put in place by the regions to encourage mobility projects. However, it is good to note that most of this aid cannot be combined with the Erasmus program scholarship:

  • Mermoz Scholarship (Hauts-de-France)
  • Île-de-France Mobility Grant for students (Île-de-France)
  • World Pass (Normandy)
  • Envoleo allowance (Pays de la Loire)
  • Prame or Regional Student Mobility Assistance Program (PACA region)

This is a non-exhaustive list.

This is exceptional assistance offered by the Crous, in particular by using the national emergency aid fund. It is intended to help students in difficulty. Emergency assistance can take two forms, namely:

  • Annual aid allocated monthly, the maximum total of which does not exceed 5,612 euros.
  • One-off aid granted in a single payment, with a ceiling amount of around 1,687 euros. It is included in the list of financial aid that can be combined with the scholarship based on social criteria, merit aid or international mobility aid.

These forms of financial aid are aimed at students under the age of 35. However, people with disabilities are not affected by this condition, provided that they are recognized by the CDAPH.
