Under what conditions can you stop your studies without repaying your scholarship?
As you probably already know, financial aid based on social criteria allows scholarship students to assume certain expenses during the academic year. However, for one reason or another, some of them change their minds and plan to stop studying. However, it happens that the student concerned is forced to reimburse all or part of the sums unduly paid if the attendance conditions are not respected. It is therefore recommended to be aware of the obligations to be fulfilled in order to be able to stop your studies without repaying the scholarship Crous. Below are the basic rules to take into account:
- Be registered in a higher education establishment (administrative or educational registration);
- Be diligent in classes, tutorials and practical work;
- Follow the courses integrated into the training;
- Take exams;
- Take the competitive examinations corresponding to your studies.
As previously stated, the Crous scholarship allows the student to finance your studies. Logically, if he decides to drop out during the academic year, this means that he is no longer eligible for the scholarship. Consequently, this financial assistance based on social criteria is automatically suspended. The first step is to contact the Student Social File service at your local Crous as soon as possible. The managers are then responsible for stopping the payments after following the necessary procedures. It is important to take the time to explain to your interlocutor the reasons which encourage you to stop studying. By explaining your situation to him, you lose your Crous purse, but you will not be obliged to reimburse the amounts collected. You are also required to prepare the documents to be provided in advance, such as a certificate of course attendance. Do not forget to attach to your letter any additional supporting documents that you consider important (change in family situation, death certificate of a parent, etc.). If the reasons are medical, send the medical certificates to the Student Social File department of your Crous.
Good to know: in the event that the attendance conditions have not been respected, the Crous has the right to force you to repay the sums unduly received. However, certain student profiles may be exempt from class attendance, such as high-level athletes.
